The School is located on a 9-acre site in the Gold Coast area of the New Territories near Tuen Mun. Set into the hills, it has tremendous views across the marina, condominium complex and shopping promenade of the Gold Coast and, beyond, to the harbour and Lantau Island in the distance. Immediately behind the school are the hills of the Tai Lam Country Park, including access to the MacLehose trail, the longest trail in Hong Kong stretching 100km from Sai Kung to Tuen Mun.
The site is semi-circular in shape and the school buildings follow the outer side of the semi-circle forming a very distinctive crescent shaped-building. It is 9-floors high at the boarding house end and 6 floors high at the Upper School end. From the boarding houses, which are near the teachers’ apartment block, the building curves around the Lower School to the magnificent main entrance located at the back of the site.
The Lower School includes dedicated areas for Early Years (Crèche to K2) and Pre-Prep (Years 1 to 5). The Early Years Centre boasts its own generous outdoor terrace which every class has direct access to. This enables the teachers to make full use of the indoor and outdoor learning environments when opportunities for learning will have most impact. Inside there is a large shared area and a multi-purpose room available for Music lessons and Assemblies. The Pre-Prep section of the school houses the classrooms for each year group and dedicated rooms for Chinese, French and Spanish. There is a specialist floor that contains an ICT Suite for whole class teaching, a Music room, a Visual Arts area and a large multi-purpose room that can be used for assemblies and indoor PE lessons.
Above the main entrance is one of the signature features of the design, the Library and Learning Lounge. Situated at the heart of the school, it is a stunning design on two floors connected by an open staircase. The Learning Lounge is a room designed to support independent student work with state of the art of IT. From the main entrance, the crescent-shaped building continues to curve in the other direction to encompass the Upper School facilities. Each academic department has dedicated office facilities and classroom spaces, including rooms with traditional desks and Harkness tables. The Upper School also includes excellent science laboratories, specialist art, music and drama facilities, a recording studio an auditorium, a very large sports/assembly hall, fitness room and indoor swimming pool.
Outside, in the middle of the crescent, are sports facilities that include a state of the art 4G Astroturf pitch, four tennis courts and basketball/netball courts and an adventure playground.
