On May 7 2016, Harrow International School Hong Kong and 16 schools and organisations joined the first community-led ‘Sports for All’ Sports Day in Hong Kong at the Kowloon Cricket Club. It was a day full of sports activities designed to enable over 150 participating children of all abilities to play together.
The organisers thanked Mr. Mike Tyrrell, a Physical Education teacher at the School, for his contributions as he designed and executed the discus event. They said that he provided expertise and experience, providing invaluable suggestions to ensuring the overall event would be a success. He posted instructional videos to the event’s Facebook page and asked dignitaries and participants to sign event t-shirts for display.
Some of the feedback received from the day included:
“It was a great event and my boy enjoyed it very much.”
“It was wonderful to see so many happy and enthusiastic children enjoying a day of sports. My little boy had a blast and enjoyed every minute of it – and so did I! We hope that The ‘Sports for All’ Day could be established as a yearly event. Again, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Many thanks to Mr. Tyrell for representing the School at this very worthwhile community event and we hope that it can become a permanent annual fixture in the years to come.
