In February, 76 students in Y9 to Y11 sat the Intermediate Mathematics Challenge. Of these, 11 achieved Bronze, 23 Silver and 24 achieved Gold awards. 25 students did well enough to qualify for the next rounds, either the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad or the ‘Kangaroo’ paper which took place on 16th March. To get this far is an outstanding achievement in itself, but congratulations must go to Jett Li (Y9, Peel), Michelle Ng (Y9, Gellhorn), Edith Chan (Y10, Wu), Rocco Jiang (Y10, Churchill), Valerie Tsang (Y10, Gellhorn) and Angela Ng (Year 11, Gellhorn) who all achieved a Merit in their Kangaroo papers. Many congratulations must also go to the students who sat the exceedingly challenging Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad papers: Vivian Liu (Y10, Wu), Ho Wang Tang (Y10, Sun) and Douglass Wang (Y11, Peel). All three students achieved at least a Merit, with Douglass achieving an impressive Distinction and medal award.
