On Wednesday 18 November the U11 Harrow Hong Kong Netball team entered the U11 Kowloon Schools tournament where a total of 12 teams were competing.
The teams were split into three groups with the winner of each being put into the cup competition to play for first, second and third place. The first group game was against Kellet which they won 5-3. In the following two games, they secured a 3-0 win against Beacon Hill and a 9-0 victory against Sha Tin Junior School. This secured first place at the top of the group and qualification for the cup competion.
The first cup game was against ICHKA, who were tough opposition but with the help of some good defensive work, the team sealed a 5-1 victory. The final game of the tournament was against the hosts Kowloon Junior School who proved to be strong opponents, taking an early lead. It was a closely fought contest but in the last moments of the match, Harrow Hong Kong manaed to convert a score to clinch a 3-2 victory and become the U11 winners.
Well done to all those who took part, especially the seven Year 5 students that were playing above their age group. This win promises a good season ahead with the ESF tournament fast approaching on Saturday 5 December.
