On Friday afternoon, six bands, made up of Year 9 students, performed to the Prep School in a bid to win the 2017 Battle of the Bands competition. During recent Year 9 Music lessons, students formed sixteen different bands, all learning and rehearsing cover versions of songs of their own choice. After a lot of hard work and extra band practices at break and lunch times, the sixteen bands performed in heats; a great deal of musical talent was exposed but only six could make it through to the final! The event itself featured some outstanding performances including arrangements of Oasis’ Wonderwall and Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, but the best performance, as selected by the team of staff judges, was by Jasmine Hui, Zoey Deng, Haley Chan, Bowie Wong, Michelle Ng and Serena Sun, who performed Elle King’s Ex’s and Oh’s. The gig-like atmosphere provided a great start to the weekend for all!
