Young Harrow Hong Kong Student Wins Asia’s Prestigious Piano Competition

Gwyneth Suen (Y4M) participated in the finals of the 19th Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition which took place from 12 to 15 February 2016 in Hong Kong. She won first runner-up in Children Class C and the fifth prize in Bach Intermediate Class. Gwyneth scored first class awards in both categories.

Gwyneth started learning piano at the age of 6. She was a participant of the Young Musicians Series 2015, presented in association with the Royal Academy of Music Hong Kong Alumni Association. She is also a drummer and a violinist.

The Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition is one of the most influential and prestigious piano competitions in the region since 1989. The competition includes finalists from all Asian countries. Previous winners include many world-renowned musicians such as Yundi Li (China, 1996), Nogi Nariya (Japan, 2005) and Woo Yong Gi (Korea, 2011).
